    Up for auction is a rare original stereoview of Major General W. T. Sherman published by E. & H. T. ANTHONY & Co .501 BROADWAY, NEW YORK .The backmark of the mount is labeled PROMINENT PORTRAITS No. 2966 , MAJ. GEN’L W. T. SHERMAN, U.S.A.
    This classic vintage stereoview of Major General William Tecumseh Sherman c. 1865 image is in good condition considering it’s 156 years old. The corners of the mount show wear and some soiling but no cracks . Reverse of mount is soiled and has an original three cent / George Washington revenue stamp from the period affixed at the upper right corner.
    The image of Major General Sherman has rich albumen tones with a great and strong three - dimensionality.
    This original & authentic stereoview of General W. T. Sherman who was one of the greatest American military leaders of the Civil War would make a great addition to the Civil War Collector.
