1834 - Morgan County, Illinois considers "the state banks as perfectly incompentent to preserve a uniform currency throughout a government composed of twenty-four independent states." They appeal to Congress for the restoration of the US Bank, asking "that former prejudices be sacrificed and that all minor considerations will be lost in the noble resolve of the patriot's heart to save his country from oppression, bankruptcy and ruin."
